Preparing Our Students for High School

IMS hired our first Director of High School Readiness this spring. Jose “Gonzo” Gonzalez, who joined IMS after 5 years as director of graduate support for Gesu School, is excited to share his experience and resources to help families of 7th and 8th graders navigate the high school admissions process.

Already, Gonzo has created a comprehensive online resource: the IMS High School Admissions website. On this site, families will find direction and guidance on the admissions process at high schools in the Greater Philadelphia area.

He also has conducted Zoominars for 7th grade families to help them begin the high school admissions process. Recordings of the Zooms can be viewed on the above website under Parent Support Resources

Gonzo brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Before Gesu, he was director of diversity at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School for 9 years. There he worked very closely with IMS schools while building an enrichment program for boys called Camp Magis. Many Camp Magis participants were recruited from Holy Cross, St. Rose of Lima, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Malachy, St. Martin de Porres, and The DePaul Catholic School.

IMS families will benefit from the strong relationships Gonzo has built with many of the admissions and enrollment teams at the Archdiocesan schools and the School District of Philadelphia, as well as charter schools, independent schools, and boarding schools in the area.

Please join us in welcoming Gonzo!
